Stories from the Trenches

1. Warpcast Rewards Algorithm Tweaks Incoming

The Warpcast rewards algorithm is being adjusted based on community feedback. Here’s a quick recap of how scoring worked last week:

  • Each cast earns points based on likes, recasts, and follows.

  • Only engagement from verified active users is counted.

  • Scores are adjusted by sqrt(active followers in the last 7 days).

2. Rev Reintroduces /commit: An Onchain Accountability Protocol

Rev is bringing back /commit, an onchain accountability protocol designed to ensure that commitments hold real weight.

In a world where promises are often broken without consequence, /commit introduces a system where not keeping your word comes at a cost. Whether it’s a personal goal, a business promise, or a community pledge, onchain commitments create real accountability.

3. Jacek Evaluates DEGEN’s Tipping and Lockup Vault Strategy

Jacek, creator of $DEGEN, is reassessing the effectiveness of DEGEN’s tipping model and lockup vault, following a surge in tipping activity and concerns over farming exploitation.

The Lockup Vault: A High-Yield Farming Loophole?

The DEGEN Lockup Vault was designed to encourage long-term holding by rewarding users with daily tipping allowances. However, data suggests it has instead incentivized high-yield farming, leading to excessive inflation:

  • A 1.9M DEGEN deposit grants a 10K DEGEN daily tip allowance

  • If farmed for a full year, this yields an APR of 184%

  • This raises concerns about whether the system is benefiting long-term holders or just rewarding farmers

Is Tipping Still Effective for Growth?

While tipping played a key role in DEGEN’s early adoption, recent stats indicate diminishing returns:

  • In Season 11, only 565 new wallets (that never received an airdrop before) received DEGEN

  • Meanwhile, $1M worth of DEGEN was distributed in that round

  • This means it cost $1.7K per new wallet—an unsustainable acquisition cost with no guarantee of retention

With most DEGEN being redistributed to existing users, does tipping still drive real growth, or is it time to rethink how the treasury is used?

What’s Next for DEGEN?

Jacek highlights two major issues:

  • Lockup Vault farming is driving inflation

  • Tipping’s high cost is yielding fewer new users

This raises key questions:

  • Are DEGEN’s current incentives sustainable?

  • Would other marketing or distribution methods be more effective?

  • Should tipping and lockup incentives be adjusted to ensure long-term value?

Jacek is opening the floor to the community—what’s the best path forward for DEGEN’s future?
