Dan Romero has clarified the future of channels and their role in Farcaster’s broader growth strategy.
Channels are not being removed, but they are not a development priority at this time.
The primary focus remains growth, with efforts centered on:
Enhancing onchain user experience through Frames and Wallet integration
Increasing daily active users via invites and rewards
Expanding the protocol to support new clients
Onboarding more creators
Channels have helped deepen engagement among existing users but have not significantly contributed to user growth.
There are no immediate plans to introduce new features to channels, though they remain programmable via the protocol and Warpcast APIs.
Cura is developing a mobile client focused on channels—follow @sahil, @moe, and @cura for updates.
Should users continue posting in channels? It depends on personal preference. The Home feed algorithm already surfaces all casts to followers, but channels can help organize content for power users who use mutes.
What is the role of channels? They primarily serve as community spaces and content categorization tools. The current structure maximizes distribution while managing spam.
Are there plans for new features? While requesting to join channels is a feature under consideration, Frames provide a temporary solution. Another potential improvement is greater control over channel page algorithms.
While channels remain part of the Farcaster ecosystem, the focus for now is on scaling user growth and improving onboarding.
Warpcast has launched a new feature allowing 40% of select users to cash out Warps for USDC directly to their Warplet.
Eligible users who received a notification can access this feature through the Warps screen on Warpcast. The rollout will expand to more users soon.
The Cura team is rolling out the Cura app beta to a wider audience, offering a new Farcaster client designed for a seamless user experience.

This update makes it easier to use your Warpcast Wallet across the broader Web3 ecosystem, ensuring seamless access to DeFi, NFTs, and other decentralized applications.
jvmi, the creator of Swatches, is launching Charts on Base on March 21.
